How does what all work..? I forget. Oh yeah, I wanted to share some notes on the way that some of these recordings (and others which will also come out) came into being recorded in the first place, and how they ended being edited and posted on this site, in the first place. It also establishes A Place to start laying out the “plot” for the movie, the site, the clips, the people involved, the recordings.. I can tell writing this is going to be a dang wordy job, BUT, as the say..
In order to speak the language of synchronicity, one has to go in and out of and around time. This means that one cannot always explain things in chronological order; one kind of has to organize things by Signifiers. The Signifiers, regardless of when they took place in time, are laid out in some attempt at a logical order based on which ones need to be mentioned first, so that the ones mentioned thereafter make sense as it goes along (toward the thrilling conclusion). Let’s just say I have a feeling this language of synchronicity is going to be used a lot more, especially on this site, where virtually everything on here has some synchronistic relevance to something or someone else that has been, is or will be posted on this site or other associated sites and pages (see what I mean, I don’t even know what tense to use so I have to use them all).
Often Michael and I, and/or whomever was riding in the Purple Van, would go across whole states and show up at a place or event only knowing like one person that was going to be talking or performing or hanging out there, which on a meta level was the Signifier that this was a place we should go. Then we would also tape or record other interesting people who who we had never seen or heard of, and they would inevitably be associated with the first person, and often they became regular characters in the footage, and this would go on as such. Sometimes, we would be drawn somewhere not even knowing who would be there, find somebody we know there, and that would signify we were at the right place, and there would be others there we would meet and videotape or record, who go on to be regulars in the footage.
I was going to site a specific example in detail, but really that is the example and the case on just about everything we taped, so that saves a lot of typing and gets me off the hook for this post. Woo!
Ah yes, the Point! is, following the signs of How It All Works, using the Signifiers, leads to great works, great moments, people, events, and it can be life changing as well, all of which is what we like to document at the People Like Us Project. Plenty of examples of How It All Works around here. 🙂
